True the Vote Comment on Montana Conducting an All-Mail Election

HOUSTON, Texas – True the Vote Founder and President Catherine Engelbrecht today released the following statement commending the lawsuit against Montana Governor Steve Bullock’s action to conduct an entirely vote by mail election in the state:

“The Montana governor's attempt to conduct an all-mail election eight weeks from election day is a disservice to the voters he represents and just plain foolish. Governor Bullock cites concern for voters' safety in a pandemic, yet shows zero regard for whether his constituents’ votes are actually counted. No state can just convert to mail voting at the drop of a hat; and to do so while limiting in person voting is a recipe for voter disenfranchisement and election fraud. It must be stopped. The lawsuit to stop this action is justified and, I hope, successful.

“Regardless of the ongoing barriers that arise ahead of election day, True the Vote stands ready to address the challenge. We are mobilizing tens of thousands of volunteers and training them on how they can best serve their states and communities at the polls in this election. We will continue working to shine a light where states are getting it wrong, but are also committed to working in every capacity possible to ensure Americans’ votes are counted and secure no matter what final election rules are determined.”

States across the country are in dire need of workers at polling places and in ballot verification committees. True the Vote is training and mobilizing volunteers to serve in these roles in the effort to ensure a free, fair, and safe election for all. Anyone willing to help can visit TruetheVote.org to sign up and learn more about training and engagement in the upcoming election.

True the Vote continues to take action in states across the country to preserve election integrity in the 2020 election and has already initiated lawsuits in Michigan, Nevada, Virginia, and New Mexico. As the country’s largest voters’ rights and election integrity organization, True the Vote has been on the front lines of election fraud prevention since its founding in 2009.
